Kathleen earned her doctorate in Physiology from the University of Kentucky, performing research on the mechanisms of neuronal death after traumatic brain injury. Transitioning into the field of neurodegeneration, she completed her postdoctoral training with Dr. Tim Miller at Washington University in St. Louis. Now a Research Instructor in the Miller Lab, she focuses on employing antisense oligonucleotide strategies to reduce or modify toxic proteins in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in an effort to direct the development of novel treatment strategies. In addition to research, Kathleen enjoys mentoring new scientists and leads a trainee-run scientific editing resource at Washington University. She is also an avid rock climber and craft beer enthusiast.
